Lost in Translation

Researchers from the UNSW Ageing Futures Institute want to understand how attitudes toward ageing, gender stereotypes, recruitment language, and program design affect older men's willingness to take part in social and health programs.

Study Purpose/Description

This study aims to explore why older men participate less in social and health programs and to find strategies to improve engagement. Researchers want to understand how attitudes toward ageing, gender stereotypes, recruitment language, and program design affect older men’s willingness to take part.

What’s Involved?

What’s involved? 

This study is a short (30-minute) online survey. Participating in this study is voluntary. It will not cost you any money, and you will not receive any payment.

To take part, you will be asked to complete an anonymous survey, sharing your views on aging, male gender norms, and preferences for social and health programs. You can take breaks and return to the survey anytime with a unique return code or re-access link sent to your email.

Recruitment criteria

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Identify as male
  • Are aged 65 years or older
  • Can understand, read and write in English
  • Live in Australia
