Co-Designing a Wellbeing Program for Older Adults with Dual Sensory Impairment

The combination of both vision and hearing loss already affects 1 in 4 adults aged 80 years and older and the associated communication challenges significantly impacts the quality-of-life, independence and social participation of those affected. There is an urgent need for targeted interventions to better manage these immense psychosocial challenges for this inevitably growing population.

Study Purpose/Description

The aim of the study is to co-design a wellbeing program for older adults with both vision and hearing loss. As people age, they are more likely to experience common sensory loss conditions such as macular degeneration and age-related hearing loss.

What’s involved?

The study consists of one 2-hour workshop with older adults with vision and hearing loss as well as key stakeholders in supporting this population.

This workshop will allow us to understand the perspectives and experiences of both groups. The workshop will be held either in-person or online depending on where participants are located.
