Young People’s Preferences for a Digital Coach to Support Pain Self-Care Study

Study Purpose/Description

Researchers at Curtin University are co-creating a digital health solution with young people who have chronic musculoskeletal pain. This tool will provide rapid, personalized, accessible pain self-management.

The research team need your input to determine which features of an AI-enabled digital pain coach are most important to young people and to identify concerns that young people have about using digital tools for their pain self-management. Your input will help to develop a solution that will improve pain care for other young people.

What’s Involved?

If you participate, you will be asked to complete a 15-minute online survey with three parts:

  1. questions about you (e.g. age, pain diagnosis),
  2. your preferences for an AI-enabled digital pain coach, and
  3. any concerns you have about digital health solutions.

All survey respondents will be invited to enter a random prize draw to win 1 of 5 e-Gift cards valued at $100.

Recruitment criteria

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you are:

  • Aged 18-24 years, and
  • Currently experiencing chronic musculoskeletal pain*.

‘Musculoskeletal’ means pain experienced in muscles, bones, joints, and nerves and ‘chronic’ means pain that has lasted for at least 3 months or more.
